Sew Some Love

Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup!  Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.

I've been doing some quilting and binding of donated tops and my orphan block top.  My trusty assistant was nearby, of course.  She thinks she's so stealthy...

Covered in Love has been so blessed by donations from quilters, I want you all to see what each other have going on!  For purposes of the linky, I'm going to define "charity" really generally.  If you're sewing a quilt for you co-worker's mom with cancer or your friend's uncle who lost his home, that totally counts!  Anything you're sewing out of the goodness of your heart for someone outside you immediate circle of family and friends.

Some Quilt Charities:
Covered in Love - quilts for mourning families
Margaret's Hope Chest - several programs for children and adults
My Very Own Blanket - quilts for children in foster care
Project Linus - quilts for children in the hospital
Quilts Beyond Borders -  quilts for poor children around the world
Quilts for Kids - quilts for abused and ill children
Quilts of Valor - quilts for veterans
Threading Hope - children and families in poverty and war torn countries
Victoria's Quilts - quilts for cancer patients
Wrap-a-Smile - quilts for children treated for cleft palate on medical missions
Wrap Them in Love - quilts for children

If you know of any that need added to the list let me know!

  1. Books and a Blanket -- somewhat local to central Texas. A great charity started by two young girls distressed that their classmates didn't have books of their own.

  2. How about the MD Anderson Ovarian Quilt Project that raises money to benefit the ovarian cancer research project at the center?

  3. How special you are to support this disease and your friend. There are so many people suffering in silence and it must be very hard. Thank you so much for sharing.

  4. Took me a while to get my post finished to link up. I'm really glad you're doing this linky, because it's motivating me to both sew AND blog :)

  5. Hi, Kat. I found your linkup on Oh, Scrap, you're lovely quilts and your mention of Sew Some Love. Since my link today is about my Project Linus quilt, I joined you linkup as well. My guild near Madison WI collects about 300 charity quilts a year from about 40-50 members. I do mostly Project Linus. They also collect for the VA hospital, halfway houses, nursing homes, NICU babies, etc. this is the first charity linkup I've seen, so count me in.
