Quilt Treasures
Happy weekend! It's been another wet, dreary week here. This was week 4 at my new job. It's going pretty well, and for the first time I actually found some sewing time in the afternoons.
No Covered in Love finishes from me yet, so thank goodness for Cynthia D who sent in these 4 beautiful quilts.
A couple of these are really large and hand stitched! What treasures!
Thank you Cynthia!
Here are the little ragamuffins "helping" me to hem my new lab coat for work.

Go Team?
This weekend I have that rarest of all finishes: a personal quilt that has nothing to do with Covered in Love. Yes, it does occasionally happen. This quilt was made for a guy friend based on his favorite baseball team.
I couldn't care less about baseball but as we all know, quilters make quilts for other people, and that means we make all kinds of quilts. I decided on a simple quadrant design with appliqued logo and baseball stitching, all from super cozy flannel.
For the logo I traced an image and layered it over red and white fabrics and batting. Then I stitched through all the layers, perforated off the paper, and trimmed away the excess white.
The baseball stitches were made with bias folded strips and put on after the quilting was done. Since the top is flannel, the backing is fleece, and I did use batting this quilt turned out super cozy and warm. It's now resting in its new home on the couch at my friend's house!

Rainbow Stars and Dinosaurs
Happy Friday! Boy am I glad to get to the weekend; I don't know how anyone gets anything done while working a full time job!
I've got some bright and happy quilts to show. This rainbow stars quilt came from the Nurture circle of do. Good Stitches. Jenny assembled it and did the beautiful free motion quilting.
Next, Connie sent in this cool dinosaur top that I quilted.
I really like the bright dinosaur fabrics and I decided to quilt it with square spirals. Thankfully CiL doesn't have much need for quilt suitable for children, but unfortunately children do sometimes lost their parents and need a quilt for comfort.
Or maybe it will go to a dino loving adult? I'm sure the perfect person will get it at the right time.
And finally, here's a really unflattering picture of me early in the morning with my Expensive Fur Blankets keeping me warm ;)

The Covered in Love Village
Happy weekend quilters! My first week at my new job went really well and I hope you all had great weeks. Mina sent in more of her scrappy village tops for me to finish for Covered in Love. If I counted correctly these are village quilts numbers 7 and 8.
I love these quilts because I love the symbolism of a diverse village living together and supporting each other, which is of course never more important than in the difficult times as our quilt recipients are going through. And of course I love all the little peek-a-boo surprises like this babushka lady in the doorway.
There are a lot of changes going on in my life right now, most notably a new job which is seriously going to cut into my spare (quilting) time. My hope is that CiL will be able to continue along at a pace similar to what we have been.
The CiL village supports east Texans in need, but you guys are also my village and you support me. Thanks so much to those of you who send in blocks, tops, backings, and quilts. Thanks especially to the ladies who have stepped up to help assemble and quilt for CiL. I so appreciate my village!
I interrupted Fudge's bath on one of the Nov/Dec quilts in progress. He says, "Yes? You needed something?"
