Rainbow Bargelllo

Happy Friday, quilters! I have a personal quilt to show off this week. I made this pretty bargello from the pattern "The Restless Wind" by Quilting Jays on etsy. This might be the first time I've ever followed a pattern exactly (well, minus the border) in my entire quilting life!

The pattern called for 18 different shades of fabric and I knew that I wanted a color range from maroon through dark green. I owe many thanks to my local quilt shop owner who helped me choose and arrange the colors.

Like most bargellos The pattern calls for sewing strip sets and then cutting slices off of them in various widths. The pattern was very easy to follow with several handy charts and once I got going it came together very quickly.

I had to quilt it with curving lines following the illusion of curves in the top. I thought this was going to be really difficult but it actually wasn't. I free motioned it on my mid-arm machine using color matching thread.

Needless to say, I'm thrilled with how this quilt came out and I can't wait to gift it!

Covered in Love is a 501(c)(3) charity that donates quilts to patients dying in the hospital, over 1400 so far! The July-Sept block drive is live now.  Check out the main post HERE if you want to get involved.

  1. What a gorgeous quilt. I can't believe you're going to give it away. I'm tempted to order the pattern, but I already have more patterns than I'll ever make (and more fabric than I'll ever use).

  6. This bargello has got to be the prettiest one I've ever seen. I love the colors & especially how you've made it in "sections" and not just one all over bargello pattern. It's truly a beautiful work of art. Thanks for sharing it with us. The recipient will cherish it forever!
Thanks to all who continue to support CiL.
