Doris's Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! This week we are celebrating Doris who sent in these 8 sweet baby quilts all finished and ready to go.

These will go to the NICU at a hospital in Longview Texas. They go through a few per month and have really appreciated us supplying quilts to them.

This blue quilt had a corduroy backing that I especially liked. As you can see, Fudge was very helpful with the photo process.

Doris has also recently volunteered her long-arming services to help CiL get some of our donated tops finished. This is so incredibly helpful to me, HUGE thanks to Doris!

I was invited to this hospital's yearly NICU reunion last month but unfortunately wasn't able to attend. Hopefully I will next year and be able to meet some of the staff who work there and distribute our quilts.

I wouldn't expect to meet any of the parents who received a quilt since presumably most of them are grieving, but it would be nice if I were able to.

You're not seeing double, this quilt is in fact another variation on the one at the top of the page. Cute little owls.

Thank you, Doris! Families will be so blessed by these quilts!

Beth's Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! Summer is definitely here in Texas, but quilt season never stops. Beth sent in a box of lovely quilts recently all finished and ready to be labeled and delivered.

First is a large, modern looking star quilt. The fabrics have cute little pears and cherries on them.

Next a scrap quilt with blue and cream fabrics to hold it all together. I has nice big looping feather quilting. All of Beth's quilts had awesome quilting.

Next a more traditional sampler quilt with vintage looking fabrics and design. It's quilted with the same big flower design as the first quilt had.

And finally a flannel kids quilt quilted with numbers in rainbow thread. We don't distribute many kids quilts but one of our hospitals does go through just a few baby quilts per month in their NICU.

The rainbow binding of is my favorite part of this one.

Thank you, Beth, these quilts will be loved by the families that receive them!

Kathys & Co.

top by Kathy B, quilted by Dee

Happy Friday, quilters! This Friday I bring you a selection of tops made by two different Kathys and quilted by 4 volunteer quilters.

I was busy this weekend packing and shipping tops to quilters.  It inspired me to get busy myself and I have quilted 9 tops so far and plan to do 2 more tonight.

Jenny S. did a lovely job quilting Kathy's big 16 patch with a feathery motif. For the top she used a multi color thread that perfectly complements the color scheme. I tried to get a good pic but it's much clearer in real life.

I love the backing choice and the multicolored binding. Great collab between these ladies.

Last top from Kathy B., another 16 patch with a cute flamingo backing.

We've been having a lot of strong thunderstorms here, lots of trees down and power out.  My little area has been quite fortunate, with the worst of it going just south of use repeatedly.  In between storms it's hot and muggy, I had to keep wiping the condensation off my camera lens when I took these pictures. I hope it's safe and dry where you all live.

Kathy S. made this top with a block similar to the potato chip blocks we have in the block drive right now.

Pam did a wonderful job with both of these scrappy quilts, giving them a cozy stipple.  Since 2020 Pam has quilted (and often also assembled) over 50 quilts for CiL!

Massive thank you to Pam, Jenny, Dee, Wendy, Kathy S. and Kathy B. I truly couldn't do this without all your help.

Pretty pretty Sundae checking out the high spot.
