Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
Hey y'all. Christmas is less than a week away. Do you have your shopping done? More importantly, do you have your sewing project-gifts done? Yeah, me either.
I've been working on Christmas gifts and some finishes for CiL, but nothing I can show you right now. Instead, here are some cute photos of my boyfriend's new cat.
He's a two-year-old blue tabby from the animal shelter and we named him Moo.
Moo is the sweetest boy! He loves to be with his people, be carried, sleep on the bed, and nap on the desk while boyfriend is working. He wrestles without ever using his claws or teeth and plays with his toys like a wild man.
From shelter cat to spoiled house-cat in just a month and I don't know who is happier about it, him or us :) Adopt, don't shop!
Covered in Love has been so blessed by donations from quilters, I want you all to see what each other have going on! For purposes of the linky, I'm going to define "charity" really generally. If you're sewing a quilt for you co-worker's mom with cancer or your friend's uncle who lost his home, that totally counts! Anything you're sewing out of the goodness of your heart for someone outside you immediate circle of family and friends.

Sew Some Love
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
I'm officially out for Christmas break and sewing to my little heart's content! I've been chipping away at my stack of Covered in Love tops ready for quilting. Yesterday I finished two, but you'll have to wait until a Friday to see the finished product.
I've also been working on a couple of personal projects. The vast majority of the sewing I do these days is for CiL so it's fun to sew for myself some. First I got sucked into the Christmas Cottage Quilt-a-Long. This is coming straight out of the scrap bins, which is my favorite kind of sewing!
Second I'm finally assembling the flying geese top I've been working on for a few months, in a vain hope of having it done by Christmas!

Sew Some Love
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
December is here and Christmas is on the way. I'm so excited about the cooler weather, lights and music!
I've still been working on the block drive tops from last month. Two to go, I think! These two were a little different because they got sashing. I think the one below is my favorite.

Sew Some Love
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
Sometimes you discover pretty fabric in your stash and just have to drop everything and sew it up. That's what happened when I rediscovered these Northcott Stonehenge 2.5" strips one of you donated.
I went simple with a jelly roll race design. The strips looked so pretty laid out in the package, I just kept them in the same order to sew them together. Speaking of Northcott Fabrics, they were kind enough to donate some yardage to Covered in Love a while back. I can't wait to use that fabric with the bright HSTs on it!

Happy Thanksgiving everybody (well, all the Americans, that is)! I hope you're looking forward to a holiday surrounded by family and good food.
I'm giving thanks for all the supporters of Covered in Love, like my do. Good Stitches Circle who recently sent in these beautiful quilts!

Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
October was my month to be the Queen Bee in my do. Good Stitches circle and the blocks have been trickling in. We're doing the Double Square Star block from Missouri quilt company in blues, greens, and greys. That's what's on my design wall this week for charity, what about you?

Sewin' sewin' sewin'
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
You know the hotel commercial "I've Been Everywhere" ? That's what I feel like lately. I've been traveling for my clinicals for school and my machine's on the road with me.
I'm steadily chipping away at this rather impressive stack of scrappy susannah blocks you all sent in. This isn't even all of them! I think we're going to have about a dozen quilts from this block drive. The Nov/Dec block drive launched a week ago if you want to join in sewing for Covered in Love :)

Sew Some Love
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
Happy hump day! One of the things I really enjoy doing for CiL is picking out the new block drives every couple months. I spend a lot of time thinking about block designs and color schemes and sewing out test blocks. This month's block drive is a repeat of a very old drive in a new color scheme. I had fun making my test blocks and I hope you'll have fun if you decide to participate in the drive!

Sew Some Love
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
Recently a college friend's mom, who is a quilter, was kind enough to send me a great big box of tops and UFOs for Covered in Love. I've been working on making backings and getting them quilted little by little. There are two of these small rail fence tops in pretty pinks and blues that I basted and quilted the other day.
I think these little quilts are so pretty, but I'd never have chosen the fabrics myself. Suffice it to say these are not my colors. And thank goodness for that! If CiL were only relying on me making quilts in my favorite colors and designs a lot of people would miss out on getting their favorites.

New Favorite Way to Make On-Point Settings {Sew Some Love}
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
As I've begun sewing together the Scrappy Susannah blocks I wanted to try a different setting. This technique makes on-point settings SOOO much easier. I saw it here on Summer's Instagram. Summer was making a rectangular quilt, whereas I made a square one. First sew together a 4x8 top and then cut along the blue lines.
Flip those triangles over, sew them together, and then sew them to the larger triangle to make the other half of the quilt. Since you do end up with bias edges on the outside I sewed stay-stitching along what would become the outside edges before cutting apart the triangles. With 12" blocks this top finishes at about 68" square. What do you think? Does anyone know the original source for this technique?
Covered in Love has been so blessed by donations from quilters, I want you all to see what each other have going on! For purposes of the linky, I'm going to define "charity" really generally. If you're sewing a quilt for you co-worker's mom with cancer or your friend's uncle who lost his home, that totally counts! Anything you're sewing out of the goodness of your heart for someone outside you immediate circle of family and friends.
Some Quilt Charities:
Books and a Blanket - quilts for needy children in central Texas, promoting literacy
Covered in Love - quilts for mourning families
Jack's Basket - celebrating babies born with Down Syndrome
Kennel Quilts - small quilts for animals in need
Margaret's Hope Chest - several programs for children and adults
My Very Own Blanket - quilts for children in foster care
Ovarian Cancer Quilt Project - quilts auctioned to raise money for cancer research
Project Linus - quilts for children in the hospital
Quilts Beyond Borders - quilts for poor children around the world
Quilts for Kids - quilts for abused and ill children
Quilts of Valor - quilts for veterans
Threading Hope - children and families in poverty and war torn countries

If you know of any that need added to the list let me know!

Sew Some Love
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
Yesterday was the first day of cool weather here that actually felt like Fall! I can't wait for the cooler temperatures to get here to stay. It puts me in the mood to sit down and sew up some of the beautiful scrappy susannah blocks coming in through the block drive. If you want to join in with Covered in Love's block drive this one will run until the end of October :)

Sew Some Love
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
The end is in sight with the star blocks from this summer's block drive. I laid out the last three tops on the design wall over the weekend.
Two of these are going to a local quilter, Kathy, to finish. Kathy is always willing to help however I need it. I can give her a bag of blocks and a few weeks later she'll bring back a finished quilt! The world needs more Kathys, that's for sure :)

Sew Some Love
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
Before my eye surgery last week I got September's do. Good Stitches block sewn up. Briawna asked for these fun string pieced blocks.
If you've ever thought about joining up with do. Good Stitches I know several circles, including mine, are in need of new members. It's a lot of fun and I highly recommend it!

Sew Some Love
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
This week I fired up my quilting machine again for the first time since May. So good to get back to it! I quilted one of the Red White and Blue Stars block drive quilts and photographed the process for a tutorial about how I baste quilts using glue sticks.
See those cute little penguins in the block above? The star quilts are coming together and I can't wait to have the whole bunch all finished!

Sew Some Love
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
The NURTURE circle (do. Good Stitches) quilters have been busy lately and the quilts have been coming in! I posted two quilts just a couple weeks ago and now have two more.
This cool scrappy star quilt was assembled and quilted by Kat C. and she did a great job. I love the colors she chose! The pattern is the Casual Link block from Twiggy and Opal. Another version of this quilt might be in my future; I have wanted to make 8-pointed stars for a while.
This pretty pink quilt was assembled and quilted by Dhia, she asked for a variety of heart blocks from us and did a brilliant job assembling them into this large quilt ready to wrap someone in love! If you've sewn anything for charity recently please link up below.

Sew Some Love
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
Happy Hump-Day everybody! Hopefully most of you are enjoying a shortened work week. I have been working steadily at piecing star blocks into tops. The stars block drive just wrapped up but the new one for Sept/Oct is going now if you want to participate!
CiL has recently received donations from several companies and I will be thanking each one individually here as the Fall goes on. The fabrics below came from StudioE, Henry Glass, A E Nathan, and Blank Quilting (which I guess all have the same parent company). Just look at all those cuts! In the star top above the sashing and border (not pictured) were cut from these fabrics, plus the backing.
Big thank you to those companies for supporting CiL; if you're in the market for fabric please consider supporting them with a purchase! Also big thank you to Nicki, who asked around cooperate donations.

done. Good Stitches {Sew Some Love}
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
I've talked before on here about my wonderful do. Good Stitches sewing circle. These are the latest two NURTURE circle quilts to be completed for Covered in Love.
These two quilts were made in block-drive style by the ten members of our circle. Then Carla assembled them and Gabby quilted them. Didn't everyone do an awesome job?
The top quilt is made from the leftovers of "X Marks the Improv" blocks and the bottom one is the "Supersized Castle Block". They're in the stack for the next delivery to the hospital. What have you been sewing for charity?

MidWeek Round up {Sew Some Love}
Welcome to the Sew Some Love linkup! Please link-up any post about a project you're sewing for charity.
I've been a busy bee lately, hope you've been finding plenty of time to sew, too. First of all I got the first two tops completed from the current Covered in Love block drive.
During the months of July and August any one can join in to make star blocks for Covered in Love through the block drive. Right now it looks like we're on track to make at least six quilts.
I also got my do. Good Stitches blocks done for the month. Louise asked for these wonky star blocks. By the time I made the 4th one I almost had it figured out! Rory was critical to my success, of course.
Lastly, I got the "tulips" WIP out again and began assembling it into a top. This one started off from some orphan blocks that were given to me and has just grown.
That's my week so far in a nutshell. What charity sewing have you been working on?
