Odds and Ends

Hi everyone, first of all thanks to those who have been concerned about us in light of the recent hurricane.  We are all safe and sound here. We are much too far North and a little bit too West to be affected by this hurricane; we barely even got any rain.

This was a working week for me and I didn't get around to taking quilt photos in time to make a Friday post for you, instead I thought I'd share some photos from home with you of some other recent projects.  First, these were the June and July do. Good stitches blocks.

One of our circle members asked for blocks to make the "Plaid-ish" quilt pattern

I recently made some shelving to go around a window to add some extra storage.

Sundae approves of the cushion I made for the window seat. It keeps her at the perfect height to sun her fluffy belly. Nobody tell her that I didn't actually make it just for her, ok?

I realize there aren't any pictures of Fudge in this post but that's because he's usually right next to me and it's impossible to take a picture of us without my face looking all squished up.  He found a new place to store his favorite toy and keep it moist and fresh... in the motion activated food bowl.

Maybe he has some hidden genius that hasn't fully shown itself yet?

Winter Blues Quilts Round 2

Happy weekend, quilters! Knock on wood, the weather here has cooled off just a little bit.  (It's amazing how cool 90F can feel when it's been over 100 for a few days).

The next 4 quilts from last winter's block drive are done! This makes a total of a dozen, so far.  I really like the binding on this one with the Charlie Chaplin hats.

These first 3 were assembled by me and quilted by Kathy. (Yay Kathy!)

This last quilt was sent in finished by Joanne W.  She did pretty, swirly quilting.

Thanks Joanne! My quilt storage room is getting full and it will probably be time for a delivery soon. The Covid surge here is tailing off, assuming the start of school doesn't bring it back.  Some of my teacher friends who just went back have gotten sick already, but they're doing ok.

Thank you to those who have sent backings! Lesley, Nicki, Nancy, Mina, Tina, Louise, Linda, Elana, Sherrill and others. I've packed up some and sent off to quilters and also made backings for tops I'm planning to quilt next week. Having supplies keeps the quilting machine going :)

Kathy & Co

My goodness it's hot! Heat index of 106F today and it just keeps going.  A little ironic to be making quilts in this weather, but of course we don't just make them for warmth.

This Irish Chain and Nine Patch were pieced by Amy and finished by Kathy.

Lovely colors and a great size!

This one in the pretty soft tone and neutrals came from Nettie and quilted by Kathy, too.

I think it has a lot of prints from the Architextures fabric line in it, I loved that line!  Thanks ladies!

The kitties still want their outside time no matter how hot it gets. When I get tired of chasing them around the yard this is one way to slow them down.  You can go where ever you want, you just have to cooperate :)

Quilts from North Dakota

We made it to August of the longest year ever! I hope you are all still staying safe and not too bored.

These two pretty quilts were sent in, already finished, from North Dakota. There was no name and I haven't been able to figure out who they are from, so if you sent them please let me know!

We're in the middle of a small Covid surge here. It's gotten into a few of the nursing homes, which is so sad.

All the hospital's virus precautions have interrupted our normal quilt distribution but I am working with the chaplains to make sure we are still able to get quilts to surviving family members, one way of another.  Sending love to you all!
