Lori's Bright Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! More quilts from Lori this week, this time in bright bold colors.

These were all sent in finished by Lori to support CiL's mission. Big thanks to her!

I can't believe it's almost July, how does time seem to fly by so fast? My family will be taking our annual beach trip to the Gulf Coast soon. I'll try not to come back too sun burnt.

This stained glass looking fabric is really pretty up close.

Speaking of the beach, this is a beachy looking quilt. Nice summer time colors.

I've just taped up Louise's latest box of odds and ends and will be shipping it soon, so you can ask look forward to more orphan and UFO quilts from her.

Last up, a sweet polka dot quilt. I know I say this all the time, but this is a great block design. It would be good for a block drive. I'll add it to the list!

I hope you are doing well and staying cool this summer!

My latest League of the Arts project, a fused glass night light.

Pastel Hugs from Lori

Happy Friday, quilters! I hope this weekend finds you all well. I have more quilts from Lori to show.

The ones in this post have a lighter palette and some really pretty fabrics, which I did my best to photograph.

We've started eating garden cucumbers this week, although the tomatoes remain stubbornly green. In another week we'll have more than we can eat.

The second batch of Spring baby birds in my carport have flown the coop and a third mama bird is scoping out a nest site.

I'm taking a 4-week wheel thrown pottery class at the local league to the arts and really enjoy it. This week we trimmed the bowls and cups we had thrown in the first two weeks and I managed to carve through the bottom of two of mine. Always humbling to start a new hobby.

I think the quilt above, with the gray and solid strips, is my favorite of this batch. This last one does funny things to my eyes, although it's not as bad in real life as in the photos.

These fabrics are really vibrant and I love how trippy the design looks. Thank you Lori!

Lori's Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! I've got even more quilts from Lori this week. This time she included a note in the box with her email address so we could get to know each other a bit!

Lori is a fellow Texan who, like many of you I imagine, finds herself making more quilts than her friends and family have room for.

She's happy to have found an organization that can make use of her surplus quilts, and we're very happy she found us!

I have broken her two boxes of quilts up into three posts, loosely organized by color and style. I think in this post my favorite is the herringbone at the top, but it's a close thing with this interesting twirled strips pattern.

This very bright quilt has some gorgeous fabrics in it. Does anyone recognize what line they are from?

I hope you all are having a good spring. Our vegetables are in the ground and A new mother bird is sitting on eggs in the top of my carport.

Stuart is still with me. He especially likes when I hang out in his room in the evenings so he can get some quality snuggle time in. Remember, if you live anywhere within a few hours of East Texas he is available for adoption!

More Hugs from Lori

Happy Friday, Quilters! I have more quilts to show today that were sent in by Lori. She has such good color choices!

And the perfect backings, too.

Me and the cats are still making it. My foster cat Stuart is still with us looking for his new forever person.

Last Saturday I hung a screen door on the foster room so that I have the option of letting them see and smell one another behind a barrier. I have to say I'm pleased as punch with how it came out.  I let Stuart out to mingle when I'm home. He's been fine with my cats, so far, although they've not exactly been welcoming toward him.

Stuart has obviously never been outside at all and was terrified of the Catio at first, but after several days of gradual introduction he's decided it's pretty cool after all.

Thank you to Lori for these beautiful quilts!

Big Hugs from Lori

Happy Friday, quilters! I hope everyone and their water pipes made it through the cold snap. These are more finished quilts from Lori, week sent in 20 quilts in 2025!

These are a great assortment of cozy quilts that will be appreciated by grieving families here.

The cats and I hunkered down for the weather with electric heating pads and wool socks and we were quite comfy. I only missed work Monday due to the icy roads.

I'm so happy that my formerly-feral babies were inside for this freeze. I can't imagine they would have survived even this long of they had still been outside.

The babies will be going to a rescue organization Saturday to finish their journey and even though I know it's for the best, I'm really going to miss them!

More Hugs from Lori

Happy Friday, Quilters! This week's post is a round up of the last of the quilts that Lori sent in to us, starting with this flannel rail fence.

Things continue fairly well here. I took 30+ quilts up to the hospitals last week.

My parents' garden is going wild and I've been experimenting with "sun drying" tomatoes in the oven.

I got a new cat feeder for Sundae that meters out a precise amount of kibble 6 times a day. She has already learned the sound of it and is starting to predict the schedule.

Hope you're staying cool and enjoying summer wherever you are!

Big Hugs from Lori

Happy Friday, quilters! I have more quilts by Lori to show this week. These were very generously sent in by Lori all finished and just needing a label.

I got to go swimming last weekend, so it feels like summer has officially started now! We are still having frequent thunder showers, but in between it's humid and hot.

The kitties have access to the porch every day, but they mostly go out in the early morning hours. (Fudge wakes me up around 3am to open the door.) Sundae says it's too hot out there for a fat girl in a fur coat.

This spinning stars pattern (below) might make a good block drive quilt sometime soon. I've been trying to get my quilty groove back and catch up on some of the previous block drives before I start a new one.

The heat is a good excuse to stay inside in the AC and sew.

You can see more of Lori's pretty quilts in a post from a few weeks ago. This rail fence is a simple pattern with a really striking look.

And really cute backing fabric. Thank you, Lori!

Fudge has been dedicated to catching lizards on the porch and bringing them into my house...
