Priscilla & Quilters

Happy Friday, quilters! All of this week's quilt tops were made by Priscilla and finished by our lovely quilters. This first one was completed by Kathy with a wavy spiral.

These next two tops were quilted by Doris. I especially like the pattern of this one as a way to use scraps. The little diamonds look so neat sitting in the squares.

This is a really cozy, scrappy quilt that will work well for a man or woman. Priscilla always makes great scrap quilts.

This one reminds me of Bonnie Hunter's Misty Mountains block in Fall colors.

These last two were quilted by Linda. This one was a stack of blocks from Cali & Co Mystery block of the month 2025 that I assembled. Again, great scrappy colors.

I am still deep in kitten-rearing. My older litter of orange kittens are about 11 weeks old. The remaining 3 kittens and their mama are scheduled to be transported to a rescue up North next week. (Other parts of the country actually have more people looking to adopt than they have stray or abandoned animals, so some charities transport southern animals.)

The little babies are approximately 5 weeks old. They have mostly mastered the litter box (unfortunately they all have diarrhea... my fault, I switched formula brands). We've working on transitioning from bottle to licking their kitten-mush off a plate. One of them is stubbornly holding out for his bottle.

Quilters Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! This week's quilts were all made by CiL's dedicated quilters.  This first top was made by me from a bag of scraps someone sent in. Linda quilted it on her long arm and finished it off. She found the perfect binding to match.

Linda also sent in this neat quilt. I thought the backing fabric was really beautiful, kind of watercolor florals.

These next two were came from Doris. Sometimes when I get a box of quilts back there are bonus quilts in there!

This past weekend I attended a sew day for Quilts of Valor at the local League of the Arts. I made 14 blocks and we also got to see a presentation of a quilt to a former army medic, so that was really special.

Hope all is well where you are! The kittens are growing like weeks and should be ready for adoption soon!

Quilters' Quilts

Made by Doris

Where has the time gone?? I certainly didn't mean to let nearly the whole month of July pass without a post. I went on my family's annual beach vacation at the beginning of the month, so I knew I'd miss a week there. After that I'm not sure what happened!

This week I am showing off quilts made by the ladies who volunteer their time and their machines to quilt tops for Covered in Love.  These first two are from Doris in Alabama.

...and the last three came from Linda in Indiana.  Two very generous and industrious ladies who help keep CiL running!

The beach trip was good and I managed only a slight sunburn on the back of my neck, which might be the best I have done in several years. The water was darker that usual, but the surf was calmer and nice for swimming. It was hot, of course, but the main point of the trip is to visit with family, anyway.

This last quilts is my favorite. I think the pattern is just entrancing. I really like the fabrics, too.

I'll try to be more on the ball with my posts going forward! I've taken photos of some more of Louise's quilts, so she will be making posts soon, anyway. She's more on the ball than me ;)

Red-head on the beach means long sleeves.

Scrappy Mountain Majesties Block Drive Wrap Up

Happy Friday, quilters! Today I have the wrap up post for our Scrappy Mountains block drive. These first two quilts were assembled by Becky and quilted by Doris on her long arm.

I loved this block drive, the design and the color scheme and all the quilts that were made! We ended up with a total of 9 quilts.

Quite a few of them got backings from this fabric line with the really deep blue and teal that coordinated perfectly with the blocks. This yardage was donated by my local quilt shop friend.

Speaking of block drives, I finally got our next one posted, check out the link at the bottom of this post. I think this one is going to be a favorite of mine, too.

Great swirly panto that compliments the top.

These last two tops were assembled by me and quilted by Linda on her long arm.

When I was putting together this arrangement I though I was arranging them with the darker bits together, but not it's obvious that I was arranging the busy/patterned fabrics together, except for the one that's the wrong way around.

These were the leftover blocks that didn't play well with others and the came together into a nice little top. Nice and bright!

Here's our block drive by the numbers, thanks to everyone who participated!

Once You Pop You Can't Stop

Happy Friday, quilters! I have more of the block drive potato chip quilts to show.  These first two quilts were assembled by Becky and quilted by Doris. Big thanks to those two ladies!

I love the classic patchwork look of these blocks and Doris did a great job with her quilting, as always.

I'm really fond of this yellow fabric with blue flowers on the backing. I'm pretty certain this is one of the ones my local quilt shop friend gave me when she closed her shop.

Big quilting swirls to complement the blocks.

These last two quilts were assembled by me and quilted by Linda. I sort the block into semi random piles and then assembly line put them together.

Lovely spiral star panto from Linda.

My parents garden is going strong now. I've been making vinegar salad with our cucumbers and taking extra strawberries to work (I don't like strawberries, but I'm told they're very good.)

I need to start freezing out excess strawberries to make pies and stuff with. I have also heard that you can freeze tomatoes whole, have any of you ever tried that? What about cherry tomatoes? What to do with all the tomatoes we can't eat is a problem every summer. I dried a bunch last summer, but it barely made a dent.

I'm off to go pick now. Hope you all are well, and thank you so much to everyone who makes CiL a success!

Priscilla's Tops

Happy Friday, quilters! This week I have tops by Priscilla and quilted by three different quilters. This first one was quilted by me, I think the colors are really fun.

Next up, a HUGE disappearing nine patch quilted by Doris. This one is a really show-stopper. The colors are so coordinated it doesn't even look like a scrap quilt until you look close.

Lastly, a jelly-roll-race style top quilted by Linda.  I like the effect of having the dark strips in the middle with the light ones on the outside.

Spring cleaning is in full effect here. I'm working on putting up wire mesh to block the birds from being about to get into the porch. No more breakfast a la Fudge.

The first batch of Spring baby birds have been hatched in the roof of my carport and are chirping their little hearts out.

I've been taking a card/tablet weaving class at our local league of the arts and really enjoying it. Hope you all are well!
