Dee and Christy

Happy Friday, quilters! And Merry Christmas! I hope this post finds you warm and cozy and well ahead on your shopping and gift wrapping.

This week I have a few quilts to show you that were pieced by Christy, who does the amazing shirtings tops, and then quilted by Dee. I had found some backing fabric with a musical theme, so Dee used a panto to match.

I apologize for how flat and gray the photos of this quilt came out. I have no idea what happened to the light. I promise it's just as pretty as the other one. These masculine red white and blue quilts are always a huge hit.

Things have been busy here. We unexpectedly found two kittens living in our barn last Wednesday. They were very hungry, which made them easy to trap. They're and 4 months old but severely underweight (1.1lb and 2.5lb) and completely feral.

I've been trying to fatten them up and socialize them (guess which one is easier.) They have learned to tolerate me and I can now handle them both safely, but they still don't actually like humans at all.

They are in LOVE with my big cats. Unfortunately, Sundae and Fudge were raised by humans and have no cat-manners at all. It is slow, but I'm hoping that fudge at least can learn to be friendly with the babies.

I am planning to keep them until they can be spayed/neutered (they are old enough now but too unhealthy) and then find them a home. They probably won't ever be lap cats, but they could be good mousers and farm cats.

Sage (grey tortie girl) and Sweet Potato (orange tabby boy)

Beth's Quilts

Happy Friday, quilters! This week's quilts all came in finished from Beth H. Thanks so much to her for the generous support!

I loved the quilting on this first quilt, but my favorite in the set is this brown and blue one, below.

It does funny things to your eyes. Beth says it was a mystery quilt. I think the curved quilting panto really adds to all the very straight pricing.

And lastly, a beautiful, vibrant, harvest quilt made of sampler blocks. With a corresponding leafy quilting panto.

Thank you to Beth and everyone who continues to support Covered in Love. I'll be making another big delivery to the hospital as soon as I can get decent weather to take some photos..

I hope you are getting your Christmas shopping done!

Doris and Becky

Happy Friday, quilters! I hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving and ate lots of turkey and pie.

This week's quilts are tops made by Becky and quilted by Doris. Thanks so much to those ladies for their fabulous work.

It's been cold and wet here lately, winter has made itself known. The kitties are missing their porch time. Fudge will go outside for a few minutes and then come back in to warm up.

I tried to have him wear his sweater the other day when it was particularly cold, but he pouted and refused to move (he did look very handsome, though).

On the day I flew to Santa Fe it was still pretty warm. The kitties woke me up at 6am with a gift, a freshly dead bird in my bed! With lots of loose feathers.

I'll spare you the picture. Fudge was very proud of himself and loudly protested as I took the bird back outside.

After vacuuming the feathers out of my bed I did get a couple more hours of sleep. This is actually the first dead bird they've brought in. Usually they're only stunned and wake up to fly around my house causing chaos.

I wish they wouldn't catch birds, but I console myself that in order to be caught the birds have to squeeze their way into my screened in porch.

They look so innocent
