Peanut Butter Jelly Time

Finally! The quilt made from blocks my do. Good Stitches circle made in January is done. Oops, little bit overdue!  For this group quilt I asked for "peanut butter and jelly" colors and they followed this tutorial.  I really like the whole quilt, but I LOVE the color scheme! Don't be surprised if I ask for these colors in a future CiL  blocks drive.

(As an aside, I love peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. It's my absolute go to comfort food.)

I found the perfect backing with rich purples to compliment the jelly theme.  I feel like most East Texans are either beer drinkers or tea-totalers, but I'm sure this quilt will make its way into the hands of the perfect wine lover.

Next up, two more tops by the very generous Canadian, Jannette.  She sent in these two and I finished them.

Two nice gender neutral and geometric quilts.  These have been added to the next batch for delivery to the hospital and that will put Covered in Love over the 500 mark!

Thank you all for being patient with me while I took the past 2 months off to get caught up on things around here. It's time again for the summer red, white, and blue stars block drive! If you want to participate check out the details below.

Saturday morning snuggle buddies

Covered in Love is a 501(c)(3) charity that donates quilts to patients dying in the hospital, over 400 so far! The July/August drive is going on now.  Check out the main post HERE if you want to get involved.

  1. I wasn't sure how it would go with that PBJ request, but I absolutely LOVE how that quilt turned out. Both of the quilts you shared are lovely additions to your collection. Crossing the 500 mark? Congratulations on reaching that milestone for your mission!!

  2. Oh, wow! Peanut butter browns and tans with bright jelly colors is an awesome combo! Who knew? Well, apparently YOU knew :)

Jeanette's pieces are really sweet, too. Are those tiny pears on the black background? It's always so fun to see the vast variety of cute fabrics lurking in other quilters' stashes.

  3. I absolutely love the PB&J quilts. I did a quick glance of the instructions & got lost in the process. Will have to study that method more when I can concentrate on it. The colors go soooo well together. 500 quilts is a real accomplishment for CiL! Congratulations!!
I have to smile every time I see a pic of your cats. They are precious.

  4. I like all three quilts, and yes, pbj is a wonderful comfort food! 500 is amazing, and in a relatively short time, too. I made a star block this morning, but it came out 13" instead of 12.5. I was adapting a pattern. So at 12.5 trimming, it will cut the points off. I will try again, making size adjustments, but do you want that imperfect block, too?

  5. The peanut butter & jelly quilt is simply fabulous! I, too, love those colors. The other quilts are lovely and no doubt will be much appreciated. Love the photo of your quilt inspectors.
