In Memoriam

This weekend's post starts off with some sad news. Last month the online quilting community suddenly lost a great charity supporter and very special quilter when Paula B. passed away after a brief illness.  Paula contributed to multiple charities, including sending in 5 quilt tops to Covered in Love over the past couple years.

Besides blocks drives, the other major source of quilts for CiL is quilters who send in quilt tops ready to be quilted, bound, and delivered to the hospital.

Paula B. was an exceptional quilter with an eye for color and design. She also had a passion for special people, you can ready her obituary here. In honor of her memory several members of the quilt-y community are organizing a Quilt Donation Blog Hop for early May.

For the blog hop quilters are asked to make a quilt to donate to any charity that is close to their heart in memory of Paula.

Be sure to check out Kate's blog for details so you have time to plan if you want to participate.  There's plenty of time to make a baby quilt for an organization like Jack's Basket or a local NICU or foster agency between now and then.

Paula represents so many unique and wonderful individuals I've met in the quilting community.  Interesting, smart, generous people who want to help others.  I was honored to to have "met" her and I hope many of you will participate in the blog hop in her honor.

Covered in Love is a 501(c)(3) charity that donates quilts to patients dying in the hospital, over 500 so far! The March/April drive is going on now.  Check out the main post HERE if you want to get involved.

  1. Paula was a kind and generous quilter. Thanks for sharing memories of her here! I believe I recognize that first quilt. Not mine, but I'm pretty sure I know who made it!

  2. What a sweet tribute! I "knew" Paula from seeing her linkups on Cynthia's blog, Quilting is More Fun than Housework. What a generous spirit she had!

  3. Such a thoughtful tribute.
I recognize that mitered corners quilt. Thanks so much for getting it quilted and passing it along to a family to whom it may offer some comfort.

  4. I didn't realize Paula had donated tops to CiL. She was an amazingly generous person and will be missed.

  5. I was so sorry to hear about Paula's passing. Thank you for letting us know this & I am sending up prayers for her family & friends during this difficult time of sorrow.

  6. I'll be hopping! I think so many people will miss her blog and her personality, not to mention her help with quilt drives.

  7. Love your neutrals on your plus quilt! Sorry to hear about Paula.

  8. I didn't know about Paula, either. Good to see those first two tops finished!
