Winter Blues Quilts Round 2

Happy weekend, quilters! Knock on wood, the weather here has cooled off just a little bit.  (It's amazing how cool 90F can feel when it's been over 100 for a few days).

The next 4 quilts from last winter's block drive are done! This makes a total of a dozen, so far.  I really like the binding on this one with the Charlie Chaplin hats.

These first 3 were assembled by me and quilted by Kathy. (Yay Kathy!)

This last quilt was sent in finished by Joanne W.  She did pretty, swirly quilting.

Thanks Joanne! My quilt storage room is getting full and it will probably be time for a delivery soon. The Covid surge here is tailing off, assuming the start of school doesn't bring it back.  Some of my teacher friends who just went back have gotten sick already, but they're doing ok.

Thank you to those who have sent backings! Lesley, Nicki, Nancy, Mina, Tina, Louise, Linda, Elana, Sherrill and others. I've packed up some and sent off to quilters and also made backings for tops I'm planning to quilt next week. Having supplies keeps the quilting machine going :)

Covered in Love is a 501(c)(3) charity that donates quilts to patients dying in the hospital, over 600 so far! The July/August drive is going on now.  Check out the main post HERE if you want to get involved.

  3. Beautiful group of quilts! Joanne and Kathy added the perfect quilting to each one. I just love how a quilt suddenly becomes it's true self with the quilting. I'm happy to hear that you're getting plenty of backings donated, too. It's really funny that the batch from the one eBayer was wrapped in butcher paper! Why?? :)

  5. These quilts came out beautifully! I’m sorry to hear some of your teacher friends have come down with COVID-19. My kids’ schools are 100% online only, which is SUPER annoying to all concerned (students, parents AND teachers) but at least it keeps people safe!

  6. I love how that Nov/Dec block drive produced a lot of pretty quilts. It's such a joy to see these finished quilts & thanks to you and Kathy for those finished treasures. Joanne W. did a fantastic job on the quilt she sent in. So glad you are getting some well needed backing fabric. Sometimes all it takes is just a little request when you are in need. Take care & stay safe!
