(My homemade starch was mixed too strong, so there are some white splotches that will wash out) |
Our circle makes paper pieced blocks about once or twice a year. Some members enjoy it more than others... I admit to being a reluctant paper piecer. (But, I once inflicted the most tedious paper pieced blocks of all time on them, so I really don't have any room to complain!)
This block was Briawna's choice; you can find the pattern here. I believe there are 4 houses in the series, and of course you can make small changes and mirror them, so you could make a whole little village if you wanted.
If you follow me on instagram you've been seeing these blocks in stages for the past couple weeks. I pieced them both at the same time, trying to do one step per day so I wouldn't get frustrated or burned out.
I've had a cut of fabric with blue cats on a white background for a long time waiting on the perfect project. I couldn't resist putting a few of them in the windows and yard!

Don't forget about the block drive going on now! If you'd like to join in with Covered in Love's mission you can learn more on the main page or check out the block drive. The current Covered in Love block drive is an easy Hunter's Star block.

Love the cats in the windows! I love walking by someone's house and seeing a cat or dog sitting in the window!
ReplyDeleteThose are cute houses and a lot of work!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely delightful! The cats are perfect!
ReplyDeleteYou are a brave soul to take on so many paper pieced blocks. They all turned out so cute & I love the cat theme you went with. Thanks for sharing those beauties with us.
ReplyDeleteCute blocks especially the cats! I love paper piecing with my leftover scrapes.
ReplyDeleteThis is great, love the fussy cut cats!
ReplyDeleteThese are darling! One of my favorite things to do with novelty prints is put figures in windows and such. You'd better show us the whole quilt eventually - for those of us not in the group or on Instagram!
ReplyDeleteYour houses are awesome! Love the kitties too! Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteI love the cats. They really add something special to the blocks. As soon as I saw them, I thought of the Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young song, Our House." Yes, I really am that old.
ReplyDeleteHi Kat,
ReplyDeleteOh those cats just make the houses so special! That one in the window just smiling warms my heart. Although so does that one with the butterfly. A fabulous use for this fabric! ~smile~ Roseanne
Oh My! So sweet, funny and cute. Love the kitty houses.
ReplyDeleteOh, these houses are just adorable! I love paper pieced buildings—the more detail the better—so I love the details in the window frames and the dental molding under the eaves. But my favorite part of your blocks is how you worked the cats in. They’re perfectly meowvalous!
ReplyDeleteYour houses and cats are so darling! Love them! By the way, I enjoyed making the Hunter's Star blocks and a few will be on their way next week! :)
ReplyDeleteA house is not a home without a cat. Very cute.....both houses and cats.
