Red, White, and Blue All Over

The first 6 (out of 12) quilts from the summer Oh My Stars! block drive are done and ready to deliver to the hospital for Covered in Love.

All six of these were pieced and quilted by my wonderful, life-saving quilter Kathy.  She's going for sainthood, I believe ;)

Great backings for these came from many sources, but largely from Sandra.  So many interesting backings with great large scale prints.

One of the chaplains was telling me again recently how often families connect to the backings of quilts. There was one woman who was passing who had been a longtime subscriber to "Birds and Blooms" magazine and was given a quilt with a backing of half bird fabric and half flowers! The family was so touched.

Thank you, as always, for your kindness, generosity, and continual support for Covered in Love :)

50 different quilters sent in blocks for the July/August block drive.  The final 6 quilts are all in various stages of completion and should be ready to go pretty soon.

These patriotic quilts are always especially meaningful to the many hospitalized veterans and their families.

And if course, you need a kitten picture! They are 8 weeks now. BIG photo post all about them here.

Covered in Love is a 501(c)(3) charity that donates quilts to patients dying in the hospital, over 400 so far! The Nov/Dec drive is going on now.  Check out the main post HERE if you want to get involved.

  2. The patriotic star quilts are just gorgeous. Thanks to Kathy & Sandra for the donated time & materials to help CiL continue on. Kat has a lot on her plate & I know she appreciates all the help she can get. It's nice to get feedback from the families to let you know how much they truly appreciate these quilts that were made with love for their family members.
Thanks Kat, for starting this project back in 2015 with just 8 quilts!

  3. I love the story of the woman who loved flowers and birds! Those kinds of connections can really comfort the families at the end, I would think. Like the universe is sending a sign that everything will be ok.

The stars are shining bright in Texas with all these gorgeous quilts :)
