New Year New Quilts

Hello and Happy New Year! The first thing that needs to go on this post is one last quilt from Louise. This one has components from Tracy L, among others.  It had a dye-bleed issue due to one of the backing fabrics, and due to space constraints on her boat we decided that I would tackle it here. Fortunately, with a 24h soak in Oxi and Dawn it came clean!

I'm so glad Louise made the past two posts and told us about her process for making her beautiful quilts from orphan scraps.  I always love what she does as much as you all do!

I recruited my mom to help take quilt pictures recently. Mina has sent in another of her friendly village quilts.

Tina C. continues to benefit Covered in Love with her stash busting. She sent in this wintery sampler.

I had to get a close up of the quilting visible from the back.

She also sent in this lovely, simple saturated blue quilt. I wish I'd gotten a better close up of the fabrics.

Finally (for now) Linda S. sent in this beauty with detailed piecing and quilting.  I love the slightly random pieced border.

I had a great trip around Christmas and saw many friends and family that I haven't seen in a couple years. I hope that many of you were able to catch up with your families as well. I am soaking up my downtime at home now and catching up on chores that were pushed aside.

  1. What a team you've got!! Love these quilts. It's getting to where you have so many unique ones that I can't keep up with all the ideas flowing from your blog. Good job on getting that red to stop bleeding. Nothing is worse than that after making a lovely quilt and having it cry dye! Finally, the winter sampler quilt is so perfect for Valentine's Day. Can you tell that I have Valentine's Day on my brain already?? I"m working on a big project at work making quilted postcard Valentines for 150 seniors. Fear not though, I've already got many string blocks completed for this month's CIL request. There's so much fun in making these string blocks that it's been therapy for me. Thanks for all you and your team do. To Louise, Linda, Tina, Tracy, Mina and your mom...great job! To you Kat, I'm so glad you had a wonderful Christmas vacation break to recharge.

  2. I'm in love with that first quilt. Poinsettias, Poppies & Carnations are top on my favorite flower list. It's a beautiful quilt & am so glad you were able to take care of the red bleed on it.
Tina C's quilt & quilting are over the top and her blue quilt seems to glow. And those little village quilts from Mina are always a joy to see. It looks like Linda S. spent a lot of time on that "fan" quilt. Such pretty colors & beautiful quilting.
A special thanks to your mom for helping with the photo shots. I bet she does a lot more for CiL than we know.
So glad that you are getting help from all over & that CiL is going strong.
The Santa Fe lights are beautiful. Happy you had a good Christmas with friends & family! Hugs!!!

  3. Wow! Some real beauties here from Mina, Linda and Tina! The fan quilt is gorgeous and unique. Thank you again for doing all the soaking and washing necessary to clean up Tracy's pretty top! I'm so relieved; I've never had BLUE fabric dye spread so much.

  4. It would be really difficult for me to pick a favorite. All of the quilts have special qualities. Mina's house quits make me smile. Tina C's sampler is bright and happy and the saturated colors of the fabrics in her blue quilt are gorgeous. Tracy L's quilt is lovely. I'm glad you were able to correct the color bleed. Linda's fan quilt is amazing. I love the shading between the blades and the way the fans move across the quilt. It's always a treat to see Louise's quilting. This posting has some of the prettiest quilts I've seen in a long time.
