Nancy C. sent in 5 beautiful, finished quilts recently! This first one is a nice collection of batiks hand quilted with a straight stitch through the blocks.
I admire anyone who does any hand sewing at all! I avoid it as much as I can. I love the colors in this grey and blue quilt, below, and I also really like the secondary pattern that appears between the blocks.
Everyone has been asking how the Covid surge is going here. How quickly things can change! When I drafted this post a few weeks ago Covid was significant but business as usual was able to continue on in the hospital. Now numbers are back way up again, elective surgeries are curtailed, and I see the big buses every morning dropping off day shift and pick up night shift of the out-of-state emergency travel nurses.
There's nothing like simple patchwork! Especially set on point.
We're now back to school for a new semester with the nursing students and glad to be in person. (Although not this week due to the ice storm). I'm happy to be with a new group of students, just starting out as baby nurses.
Lastly Nancy sent in this seaside themed quilt with red and blue stripe and novelty fabrics.
Such a nice quilt for someone with a love of the sea!
Stay warm everyone!
Covered in Love is a 501(c)(3) charity that donates quilts to patients dying in the hospital, over 800 so far! The January/February drive is running now, check out the main post HERE if you want to get involved.

I love the sphere fabric quilt. Just recently made one with my own last "scraps" ;) Stay safe! xo
ReplyDeleteLovely quilts. I am sorry that Covid is rising again. This nightmare keeps going and you are still, sadly, on the frontlines. Let's hope that things can settle down soon. All we can do is hope!! At the assisted living facility where I work, they are NOW requiring all employees to be vaccinated. Finally, we have at least a chance. A few months ago, the entire dining staff got Covid and being unvaccinated, it was not brief. We all were delivering food and pitching in, but some residents did get it as well. It's taking us all too long to figure things out, but maybe we've become just a tad smarter! Maybe....
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous collection of quilts from Nancy! I love the variety of patterns, colors and fabric themes. Thank you, Nancy!
ReplyDeleteFabulous contribution, Nancy C!!! It's a special treat for Kat when quilts arrive already completed. It's a happy day when all she has to do is load them up and take them to the hospital!! :o))
ReplyDeleteThanks to Nancy C. for the wonderful collection of quilts. They are all so very, very beautiful & will be cherished by families who need comfort.
ReplyDeleteKat, you & Fudge look so content together. Green is a good color on Fudge.
I'm so sorry that you are having to deal with Covid again in big numbers but am glad to see that a new group of nursing students are ready & willing to step up & help with care giving in all aspects. Hugs to all of you at the hospital for all you do.
What a beautiful Collection of quilts in this post.
