Hello everyone! We're aother week closer to Thanksgiving here in the US. I'll be making a firm stance on the issue of sweet potato pie vs pumpkin. Sweet potato is clearly superior, and if you don't think so you just haven't had a good one yet! ;)
The 4 quilts in this post were assembled and quilted from block drive blocks by Pam M. I have all the blocks from last January's drive assembled into tops but haven't made backings for most of them yet.
I'm afraid CiL is going to have to skip our Nov/Dec block drive this year. I know that will be a disappointment to some of you! You are welcome to continue contributing to the Sept/Oct drive and sending in tops and UFOs.
Due to some things in my real life I haven't been able to keep up with the block drives and I need to get some quilts finished here. Fortunately, CiL has been very blessed with finished quilts and supporters helping to get quilts finished so I have plenty stashed up to keep us going.
In fact, I delivered 30 more quilts to the hospital today! The chaplains said it was a busy week and they had given away 7 by Wednesday. So rest assured that things will continue, just taking a break on the block drive to give me a little breathing room.
Thanks to Pam M for finishing those quilts, as I know you are grateful for the help! I've got 5 quilts to finish for another organization, but after that, I'd be happy to do some work for CiL, Kat.
ReplyDeleteLove all the scrappy half log block quilts. Comforting hugs
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful! And I hafta say sweet potato casserole but no to pumpkin or sweet potato pie. By the time I've eaten dinner, there is absolutely no room for pie at all! LOL
ReplyDeleteThose string quilts are so pretty and cheerful but oh my, them's fightin' words about pumpkin pie!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHere's a big shout out to Pam M. for putting those string quilts together & quilting them. I actually saw some of my blocks in a couple of them this time. I generally forget what blocks I made but this time I found some. I think taking a break from a block drive to help you get caught up is a very good idea. Maybe you should do that once a year to keep you from being so overwhelmed. Fudge looks so very, very content these days!
ReplyDeleteIf anyone deserves a break, it would be you. Thanks to Pam M for putting together the quarter log cabin scrappy blocks. So lively and cheerful. And thanks also to the many other quilters who pitch in to help you finish up the quilts.
ReplyDeleteI can easily accept EITHER sweet potato pie or pumpkin! The quilts are beautiful! I think of you often and the good work you ladies are doing down there. Got a couple more here to finish up (soon!). In the meantime..... be kind to yourself, too!!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilts!!!
ReplyDeleteWow, these are beautiful! I love thinking about all those scraps, coming from all over the country, just waiting for Pam to finish them into wonderful, comforting quilts. Thanks, Pam!
ReplyDeleteAnd thank YOU, Kat, for all your hard work throughout the year! I'm happy to hear you are taking a much deserved break. We'll all jump back into action in 2023 :)
